Contact hours will vary based on experience. All offerings will comprise of WIL experience related contact (approximately 80-100 hours).

Experiences are largely program based, and students will be provided clearer guidelines based on program when applying. Generally, experiences will require 80-100 hours of contact as part of planned program plus approximately 20-40 hours for individual reflection and assessment . Some experiences may require additional compulsory orientation events. 
 
Students must attend and participate in experience-based activities on the scheduled days, as outlined in their agreement/experience outline.All students are required to complete specific WIL pre-placement modules (approximately 2 hours) prior to commencing their first WIL experience.

Content

This unit provides students with the opportunity to undertake an authentic learning experience with an innovative and entrepreneurial focus. The experience undertaken will allow students to develop their critical thinking, communication and self-management skills as they gain exposure to real world experiences as an entrepreneur and innovator.

Students will critically reflect upon their experience, relevant graduate attributes and employability competencies through a progressive assessment process.

(Portfolio) Learning Portfolio designed around the WIL experience 

A learning portfolio is comprised of a range of different assessment tasks. In this unit the portfolio consists of 4 assessment tasks, a team report and presentation to the client, an individual supervisor’s evaluation and an individual post placement skills and employability development report. Specific task details are available on the unit CloudDeakin site. 

 The group-based tasks do not constitute more than 50% of the overall assessment for the unit.

The assessment due weeks provided may change. The Unit Chair will clarify the exact assessment requirements, including the due date, at the start of the teaching period.

Hurdle requirement

  1. Students must successfully complete the WIL pre-placement modules before they can attain access to the unit dropboxes.
  2. Achieve at least 50% of the marks available on the portfolio task that requires reflection on the ULOs to evidence a minimum proficiency.
  3. Students must attend all scheduled sessions.
