Associate degree and diploma applications

Applications are now open

If you want to study an associate degree or language diploma this page explains how to submit your application to Deakin in five easy steps. Got a question for us? Contact our friendly study experts now.

How to apply steps

  1. Find your course

    Associate degrees

Our associate degrees offer an alternative way to begin your university study. You'll get additional support and have a guaranteed pathway into select Deakin bachelor degrees.

    Language diplomas

Learning a language gives you insight into different cultures, develops your adaptability and communication skills, and can make you more employable.

  2. Understand the entry requirements

Before starting your application, read through the entry requirements tab on the course page.

  3. Check what supporting documentation you’ll need

Extra documents vary from course to course. Check the course entry requirements and read our preparing your application page for more information. If you're applying for an associate degree of Arts or Education degree, you'll need to write a personal statement.

  4. Check the application key dates

If you meet the entry requirements, the next step is to check Deakin’s key intake dates. The last day to apply to Trimester 2 is 30 June, 2024.

  5. Apply directly to Deakin

When applying for an associate degree or language diploma, you'll apply directly to Deakin. Go to the Deakin Application Portal, create an account and log in. Start your application, enter personal details, education experience, upload supporting documents, review and submit.

What happens after you apply?

We’ll email you a receipt number after you complete your direct application. We’ll usually notify you of the application outcome via email within 10 working days, however, some courses may take longer.

Has your education been impacted by challenging circumstances?

When preparing your course application, research your eligibility for special consideration. Special consideration, sometimes referred to as the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS), recognises what you would have achieved if your studies had not been disrupted by difficult circumstances.

Find out if you can apply for a scholarship

When you’re applying for a course, it’s a good idea to browse our available scholarships – you may be eligible for more than one. We offer undergraduate scholarships in a number of study areas to support you on your journey at Deakin.

Find out if your work or study experience can be recognised

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is Deakin’s way of recognising the hard work you’ve already put into your studies or career. Through RPL you may be able to have your work and study experience recognised with course credit points, reducing your course duration and tuition costs.

Use our RPL calculator to learn what credit you might be eligible for
