Postgraduate

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Career opportunities

As this is a specialist field, you’ll firstly need a recognised teaching qualification if you wish to teach in Australia. Students who seek such an initial qualification should consider the Master of Teaching or Master of Applied Learning and Teaching (Secondary).

When you complete a specialist TESOL course, you’ll be able to teach TESOL in nearly any school or institution (dependent on what level of teaching you’re qualified for – primary, secondary or other). This is also a widely recognised qualification for teaching overseas.
