Undergraduate

Undergraduate (your first degree)

A Deakin undergraduate course is the foundation of your future career, usually completed in two to four years. Duration varies based on degree type, enrolment pattern and any credit received from recognition of prior learning.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Career opportunities

The popular culture of Spanish-speaking countries includes the arts, sports, film and television, and the media. Studying Spanish can open doors to interests that aren't accessible without a knowledge of the language and culture, for example, in Spanish arts, sports, film, television or media. It can also be an important asset in many careers, with many of our graduates finding employment in:

  • the education sector
  • federal defence agencies
  • government departments
  • immigration departments
  • intelligence agencies
  • management consultancies
  • multicultural associations
  • multinational corporations
  • non-government agencies
  • translation services.

Through our exchange and in-country study programs, students get to travel and learn, as well as live abroad and acquire a taste for a new culture.
