It's also an official language of the United Nations and of other international organisations such as the European Union and the Organisation of American States. In the US, Spanish is the second most widely spoken language.

In addition to our language diplomas, languages can be studied as a major or minor sequence within the Bachelor of Arts, and as a major within the Bachelor of International Studies and Bachelor of International Studies (Global Scholar). On top of this, a language may be able to be studied across many of Deakin’s other courses.
Get the opportunity to travel overseas and try out your language skills with native speakers. In-country language programs are available if you study Spanish as a major sequence. For six weeks you will study the Spanish language and culture in its own environment while gaining course credit.
