International experience
You can choose to gain valuable skills, make international connections and add value to your course through one of our many global volunteering and study abroad options.
If compassion for other communities motivates you, advance your existing career by gaining a relevant, skills-based, theoretically sound professional qualification. Deakin's international and community development program is one of the longest established in Australia. Learning from exceptional staff, you’ll develop a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to allow you to formulate, resource, implement and evaluate development projects that benefit the communities in which you work.
A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.
Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.
The Master of International and Community Development brought together my passions and hopes with theory and grounded research. Overall the course provided a more stable foundation for making a quality contribution to local and overseas development work.
