Rowe Scientific Foundation Scholarship

The Rowe Scientific Foundation Scholarship was established to support a Deakin University student who is enrolled full-time in a chemistry or chemistry-related honours degree or the Masters of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, where the Masters project involves chemistry.

Applications for Trimester/Semester 1 2025 close 12 February 2025 at 5pm.

Value

This scholarship offers a one-off cash payment of at least $2500 (exact value to be determined at time of offer).

Eligibility criteria

Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.

To be eligible you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • be enrolled in a chemistry or chemistry-related honours degree (S400 or S401), or the Masters of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (S772) where the Masters project involves chemistry
  • be enrolled full time in Trimester 1 2025
  • have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70.

Selection for this scholarship will be based on the applicants excellence in chemistry which is made up of:

  • Course WAM
  • Chemistry specific unit results
  • Publications
  • Chemistry participation
  • Research experience

Preference will be given to students who are able to demonstrate financial hardship or are from a rural or regional home location.

Conditions

As a scholarship recipient you must  provide a photograph of yourself together with your statement addressing the question ‘What do you find most interesting about Chemistry?' for inclusion in the Rowe Scientific national newsletter.

You can apply for this scholarship directly to Deakin through our Scholarship Application Portal.

When applying direct to Deakin for this scholarship, select either the 'Undergraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2025' or the 'Postgraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2025' option and, if eligible, your application will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

This reduces the number of scholarships you have to apply for and increases your chances of receiving a Deakin scholarship.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

What happens next?

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation.

If you are successful, you will be contacted by the email address you nominated within your application portal account, unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.

You'll find out if you were successful usually within six weeks of the application closing date. If you have not received an offer by this time, you have been unsuccessful. You can view the status of your application via your scholarship application portal account.
