HDR Scholarship - Early detection of pancreatic cancer

Applications now open. A PhD scholarship is available to initiate and conduct research on the topic 'Early detection of pancreatic cancer'.

Project Supervisor

Additional Supervision

Dr Shawn Goussous

Location

Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus

Research topic

Pancreatic cancer is frequently not detected until it has reached an advanced stage, as it typically does not exhibit symptoms in its early stages. The PhD candidate will work with NanoCube Health Pty Ltd to develop a highly sensitive and specific method for early and precise detection of pancreatic cancer. This will be achieved by using a new bioinspired nanorobotics-based method that will be designed by using a navigational biosensing system that seeks out pancreatic cancer at its earliest stage The expected outcomes include new knowledge and patentable technologies related to design and fabrication of a new nanorobotics biosensing device, enhancing national capacity in early diagnostics of pancreatic cancer, strengthening industry collaboration and creating new knowledge to advance Australian nanobiotechnology.

Project aim

Developing a reliable system to precisely and efficiently transport nanorobotics for the early detection of pancreatic cancer.

Important dates
