Going on exchange was an experience I didn't know I needed until I did it.
I was fortunate enough to be able to have a very different cultural experience by studying in what is the crazy city of Tokyo for one semester and then being able to back that up with a semester full of social connections and many other travel opportunities in the fun city that is Liverpool.
The culture shock of Tokyo tested me on many levels but through every challenge I faced I saw a significant amount of personal growth build within. From skipping school to bike ride around Mount Fuji to spending Christmas with new friends in Hokkaido, I explored islands deep in the Pacific as well as deep in the Atlantic.
A city famous for its football teams as well as being the home of the Beatles I was fortunate enough to call home. I saw Mo Salah kick many goals at Anfield to win the match for Liverpool and I was lucky enough to explore beautiful lakes and ancient ruins in Wales and England.
I got to spend St Patrick's day in Dublin and reunited with all my best friends from my Tokyo exchange in Amsterdam for their Kingsday. I bumped into old friends and made a hell of a lot of new ones. I got to celebrate Japan's incredible world cup performances in the middle of Shibuya with the locals and I got to be a part of the Eurovision song contest in Liverpool.
A year ago I told myself I would make the next year of my life the best one yet and I have exceeded that expectation exponentially.
I have travelled to 4 continents and am now in Canada to see my brother get married before heading home for next semester.
