Wire EDM

Makino wire EDM

The Makino wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), is a high-precision cutting machine that uses an electrically charged wire capable of 4 axis cutting. It utilises the UV head offset for tapered sides up to 35 degrees while also being able to trace profiles accurately. The Makino wire EDM operates through material thickness with Z height fixed throughout process.

Materials

General manufacturing materials are:

  • aluminium
  • carbon steel
  • brass
  • stainless steel
  • titanium.

Please contact technical staff to discuss material requirements.

File preparation

Makino wire EDM files need to be provided as Part, Solid Part, STEP, IGES or IGS format. Dimensions need to be in millimetres (mm).
