Research databases for business and law students
The Faculty provides staff and research students with access to a range of database products to support them with their research.
Access to Business and Law funded databases outside of the Faculty is considered on a case by case basis and will be subject to licensing restrictions and capacity; where granted, access and passwords must not be shared without permission. Each Business and Law subscription is considered for renewal annually; please be aware that renewal and cancellation decisions for these resources is made by Business and Law only and, if cancellations take place your access will be lost.

Ad Insights
Kantar Advertising Insights (or Ad Insights) is a multimedia advertising activity data platform of comprehensive data on products and brands advertisement. This includes advertising occurrences, spending and creative across digital and traditional media within the US market (local and national).
Bloomberg
Bloomberg L.P. provides financial news and software tools such as an analytics and equity trading platform, data services and news to financial companies and organizations through the Bloomberg Terminal (via its Bloomberg Professional Service).
BoardEx
BoardEx provides information on company boards and committees and their members, including detailed individual member profiles (age and gender, educational, employment) and their inter-connections across public and private companies.
CSMAR
CSMAR (China Stock Market & Accounting Research) is the comprehensive database for Chinese business research. CSMAR covers data on the Chinese stock market, financial statements and China Corporate Governance of Chinese Listed Firms.
ETF Global
Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) reference data and quantitative Research composing of EFT Profile, Daily Fund Flows, and ETF Constituents data and EFT Global Proprietary Analysis
ETFG data is primarily sourced from fund sponsors, custodians, distributors and administrators.
Moody's Analytics (Orbis and Fame)
Databases covering millions of listed and unlisted companies. Information includes detailed current and historical financials, ratios, credit ratings, ownership, directors, company/industry research reports, annual reports, global public/private M&A deals and corporate actions (registry filings).
The Orbis database focuses on Australia and international countries.
Fame provides comprehensive information on public and private companies across the UK and Ireland.
MSCI ESG Research
A platform providing analyses and reports on companies across a spectrum of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors.
The MSCI ESG Manager on Campus provides access to ESG Ratings (Intangible Value Assessment, IVA), Impact Monitor, Business Involvement Screening Research (BISR), Governance Metrics, and Accounting and Governance Risk (AGR).
Refinitiv (Workspace, Tick History, ESG)
A platform for access current Refinitiv’s company and economic data, news, and analytics. A conduit to historical data modules such as SDC Platinum, Datastream, WorldScope, and integrated development tools (API and Excel Plug-in).
S&P Compustat
A comprehensive market and corporate financial database published by Standard and Poor's, covering thousands of companies worldwide, with info dating as far back as 1950.
NSYE Daily TAQ (Trade and Quote)
Trade and Quote data contains intraday transactions for securities listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and American Stock Exchange (AMEX), as well as Nasdaq National Market System (NMS) and Small-Cap issues.
ISS (Institutional Shareholder Service), RecoverMax - Securities Class Action Services
The RecoverMax platform provides historical class action filing information covering equities and fixed income securities across all markets. This information includes global litigation cases, settlements, disbursement, and tracking of claims.
Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)
Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) is a research data platform and business intelligence tool.
In-additional standard WRDS datasets, individually subscribed databases across multiple disciplines including Accounting, Banking, Economics, Finance, ESG, and Statistics from varying vendors can also be accessed.

High-Performance Computing (HPC)
The Faculty’s Advance Business Analytics Laboratory (ABAL) provides access to a number of dedicated high-performance computer for analytical computing and research.
To access this service please contact the Research Services Team.
Alternatively, the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) can be access via the Deakin’s eResearch Services.
Deakin Behavioural Lab
The Deakin Behavioural Lab is an open spaced configurable lab designed for on-site behavioural and other experimental research within the Faculty.
To use this space or discuss about the possible experiment please contact the Research Services Team.
Research software
The University provides access to a range of software products to support your research. These include statistical and data analytics software - SPSS, Amos and QSR Nvivo, Stata, SAS and Matlab.
Software can be installed from the software centre app on your Deakin computer, accessed via Apps and Desktops Anywhere or requested via the software catalogue.

Survey tools – Qualtrics
Qualtrics is an online survey platform.
The University Wide license for Qualtrics can be accessed via https://researchsurveys.deakin.edu.au/ using the Single Sign On (SSO), instruction - IT Help - Access to Qualtrics - University Wide licence (deakin.edu.au)
Qualtrics support can be accessed directly online which includes on-demand webinars and live training. and a 24/7 support centre.
Please note, the University’s licence does not cover the recruitment of respondents, but contact list can upload or can survey respondents send from a survey panel.
Deakin eResearch (DUeR) also routinely provides training on Qualtrics and statistical packages. Their survey design and data analysis support services can be requested via the IT Help portal.
Library Resources
