Working With Children Check
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (Victoria) requires all student teachers to hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) before you are allowed to undertake a placement in schools or educational workplaces in Victoria.
You must take your WWCC card with you on placement and produce it upon arrival at the school or education workplace and whenever requested during your placement.
To ensure the Professional Experience Office (PEO) can arrange your placement in a timely manner, please upload evidence of your WWCC to InPlace as per the instructions below. Pre-service teachers will not be allowed to complete placement if they have not provided their WWCC card (or application receipt) by the due dates communicated by the PEO.
Failure to comply with these requirements will jeopardise your enrolment in the course.

Application receipt
When you lodge your WWCC form at a participating Australia Post outlet you will be sent an application receipt via email. This email receipt is proof that you have lodged your WWCC application and must be uploaded to InPlace as per the instructions below.
Note: If you upload your application receipt, you are still required to upload a copy of your WWCC card once it arrives.
Your Working With Children Check card
A WWCC card will be sent to you by mail (this can take a number of weeks) and will be valid for five years. As soon as you receive your card you are required to provide a photocopy of the card to the Deakin's Professional Experience Office via InPlace. It is your responsibility to ensure that your WWCC is valid at all times throughout your enrolment and to provide the card upon request at placement.
If you upgrade your WWCC from volunteer to employee, your current card will be cancelled and no longer valid. You will need to upload your application receipt and/or new WWCC card to InPlace.
Already have a valid Working With Children Check from a previous employer?
If you already have a WWCC card, this check may be used for professional experience purposes. A clear photocopy of the card must be uploaded to InPlace as per the instructions below.
You will need to add ‘Deakin University Professional Experience Office’ to the list of organisations on the Working with Children Check website.
