Vaccinations
Deakin Medical Centres offer a range of vaccinations on campus.
Course-related vaccinations
Deakin Medical Centres administer and offer advice on course-related vaccinations, and most vaccines are available on site at a reasonable cost.
It's important to ensure you bring copies of your vaccination history and any other health information to your appointment.
The course-related immunisation process may take 3–6 weeks to complete depending on your vaccination history and antibodies, so book your appointment as early as possible to avoid delays.
Please note, any health organisation can refuse to accept a student for placement if their immunisation status is not satisfactory.
If you’re a conscientious objector to vaccinations, we suggest you seek advice through a course adviser.
Travel health
Travel health advice is available from all Deakin Medical Centres. If you plan to travel, please ensure you see a doctor about vaccinations at least six weeks prior to departure.
Information on vaccinations is available on the Smart Traveller website. Deakin Medical Centres offer a full range of travel vaccinations, most of which are available on site at a reasonable cost.
Deakin Medical Centre Burwood and Waurn Ponds are Yellow Fever approved providers.
Flu vaccinations
Flu vaccinations are now available at all campuses. It’s easy to book your appointment online – just choose your campus, click the green ‘book appointment’ button and select the ‘flu vaccination’ option. If you’re unable to book online, please keep checking availability as we may be waiting on stock.
General vaccination information
How do I make an appointment?
It's quick and easy to book a vaccination appointment online. Should you have any problems booking an appointment online please call 9244 5577.
Travel and course-related vaccination appointments must be made with a doctor.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
It is important that you bring with you any vaccination records you have from your local doctor or local council office.
How much will my vaccination cost?
You can obtain a current vaccination price list from any of our Health and Wellbeing Centres. We endeavour to keep costs to a minimum so that you can afford to access vaccinations, especially as it is a requirement for many Faculty of Health students.
How do I know what immunisations I have had?
If you have a My Health record, you can access your immunisation history through your account. Alternatively, you can see one of our nurses or send a request email to askanurse@deakin.edu.au for assistance accessing your immunisation history.
