Our services

If you have a disability or condition which impacts your study or participation in university life, you may be eligible for support. Conditions can be temporary or ongoing; physical or mental health related; you may be neurodivergent or be a carer of someone with a disability – the DRC is here to assist you with resources and adjustments that will help you to achieve your best.

Are you eligible for support?

The definition of ‘disability’ under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) is broad and includes permanent or temporary physical, intellectual, sensory, neurological, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, as well as other health conditions.

Here are some examples of conditions that may impact on your studies:

  • Physical, e.g., Diabetes, cancer, arthritis
  • Mental health, e.g., anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder
  • Vision, e.g., blind, or low vision
  • Neurological, e.g., Autism, ADHD, multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Hearing, e.g., Deaf, or hard of hearing
  • Learning, e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia, auditory processing disorder
  • Intellectual, e.g., Fragile X syndrome, developmental delay
  • Temporary, e.g., injuries or broken limbs, recovery from surgery
  • Carers who provide significant care to another person who has a disability, health, or mental health condition.

If you are unsure of your eligibility to access the services, contact the DRC for an initial chat.

What support is available?

The DRC can provide a range of support that will be discussed with you when you register with us. We will develop an Access Plan when we meet with you, and tailor educational adjustments to meet your needs.

It is really nice being able to have the privacy of sharing your own conditions at your own discretion whilst being able to access your supports.
