On-campus facilities and accessibility

Here are the on-campus facilities you may be interested in:

Category 1 Disabled Persons Parking Permits are no longer issued. New permits are issued as Australian Disability Parking Permits. Assistive technology rooms

Ask the librarian at the front desk about the AT room at your campus.

Campus access

Wheelchair access is available to the majority of buildings on all campuses. Mobility scooter access is also available at most access points on campus. However, a wheelchair access point does not guarantee mobility scooter access. Access is restricted in some areas due to the steepness of external paths but there are accessible routes at all campuses. Most buildings are equipped with lifts, accessible toilets and some automatic doors.

We are continuing to work on improving the accessibility of facilities but let us know if you come across any physical accessibility issues!

It's easy to locate accessible parking, accessible toilets and lifts on our campus maps. Maps can be downloaded from the below webpages:

Changing places

Our Burwood library and Warrnambool campus both have a fully equipped accessible bathroom including a hoist and adult change table. You can also find these accessible bathrooms on campus by searching for 'Deakin' at Changing Places.

LGBTIQ+ inclusion spaces

At Deakin, we believe in inclusion and we support diversity, including members of our community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender-diverse, intersex, queer or questioning their gender or sexuality. This includes offering safe spaces at all our campuses.

Parent rooms

Every Deakin campus has a dedicated room that meets the standards for the University's accreditation as a Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace. You can change your baby's nappy, heat up milk or breastfeed. We also have baby change facilities in designated toilets on each campus.

Our parent rooms feature everything you need, including a comfortable chair close to a table and power point for breastfeeding equipment, sink, microwave, fridge and lockable door.

Reset rooms

We have opened Reset Rooms in all of our libraries, as part of Deakin’s commitment to our Disability Access and Inclusion Action Plan and Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. These will provide a private space for students that is specifically designed to promote self-regulation. Reset Rooms create a safe, calm or soothing environment, and create a sense of control.
