International Student Connect

Have a happy and safe summer holidays!

If you need support over the summer months in Australia, visit the ISEngagment virtual map. It contains a directory of support services for international students organised by location, including accommodation, community events, employment, mental health and wellbeing, and crisis support.

Starting university is an exciting time but it can feel a little overwhelming at first. Our International Student Connect program features events and activities that will help you settle into life in Australia and commence your studies at Deakin.

If this is your first trimester as an international student at Deakin, we encourage you to try as many events as possible – you’ll make new friends, practise your English skills, explore your campus, discover Deakin’s support services and learn about Australian culture. And best of all, participation in all International Student Connect events is free!

Forthcoming events will appear on this page when announced!

Why you should join us

Get to know Deakin

Deakin is a big place and there are so many support services and opportunities on offer: our events are a great place to ask our staff and student ambassadors your questions.

Make friends

You're guaranteed to make friends at all of our events, but especially Friday Friends, our casual campus meet-ups on the first four Fridays of each trimester.

Explore Australia

Our trips and tours include visits to the Melbourne Zoo, day trips to the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast, Wurundjeri cultural walks, and footy clinics with the Cats at GMHBA Stadium.

Look after yourself

We also provide wellbeing and safety events, such as swimming lessons and mental health workshops, to help you adjust to life in Australia and cope with homesickness.

Exploring Melbourne with Deakin

Join our international students on a tour of the Royal Botanic Gardens and a visit to the National Gallery of Victoria.
