Nana Adoma Owusu-Afriyie

Sprinter Nana Adoma Owusu-Afriyie has had an outstanding start to the year, finishing second at the Victorian Championships in Melbourne, fourth at the Australian Championships in Sydney, sixth in the 4x100m Women’s relay at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohoma, Japan, and fifth in the 200m Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Osaka, Japan.

Having recently set herself a new personal best of 11.48 seconds in the 100m, the 20-year-old  Melburnian will be pushing to achieve a similar time when she heads to Naples, Italy for the 2019 World University Games in July and then later in the year, will represent Australia once again in the 4x100m Women’s relay sprint at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Nana is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Nutrition Science at Deakin’s Burwood Campus and is also part of Deakin’s Elite Athlete Program, which helps athletes achieve academic excellence while training at the professional level.

All of us at Deakin look forward to seeing Nana’s future achievements and wish her all the very best.
