Ways to meet people
Did you know there are more than 60,000 students at Deakin?
Connecting with your peers is a very important part of your success at university, and being part of a network of fellow students can come in handy when you need support, advice or just someone to have a chat with. But sometimes it’s hard to know how to meet people – here are some ways to do it.
- Join DUSA, the Deakin University Student Association, if you want to get involved in events and activities. You can also join one of the wide variety of DUSA clubs on offer. Whether you’re interested in sport, politics, gaming or the arts – DUSA has a club for everyone!
- Events are a great way to meet people while simultaneously complementing your studies. There are always lots of university events happening, from social gatherings to talks and performances to fitness classes. You never know who you might meet or what you might learn.
- Your unit sites each have a discussion board where you can introduce yourself and say hello to other students enrolled in the same unit. Once you’ve connected, you can form a study group and discuss your classes and assessments online.
- If you're an international student, we encourage you join our International Student Connect program – you’ll make new friends, practise your English skills, explore your campus, discover Deakin’s support services and learn about Australian culture.
