Transportation
Whether you’re out exploring, shopping or commuting to class, there are many ways to travel around Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The best way to see and do everything in Victoria is via public transport. You can catch a train or bus across Melbourne, Geelong, Warrnambool and other regional areas, or hop on a tram in the inner-city suburbs of Melbourne.
Public transport types and routes can take a bit of getting used to, but once you’re familiar with our systems, the convenience will make your day-to-day life easy. It’s also important to learn the options you have for paying for your public transport usage.
The International Student Travel Pass can help you save money on public transport and see more of Victoria while you’re studying at Deakin.
You can learn more about public transport in general, as well as the routes and maps to and from our campuses, on our dedicated transport webpage. You can also learn about your transport options to and from our campuses.
You might also decide you’d like to drive in Australia, whether it’s to and from uni, or on your study breaks to explore the countryside. You’ll have to bring a valid driver’s license (or an international driver’s licence) with you from your home country. The VicRoads website has more information about driving in Australia.
