Student printing
At Deakin, we're committed to sustainability and continuously seek ways to reduce waste. Our on-campus printing services reflect this commitment, with changes designed to promote responsible printing habits.
We will continue reviewing our printing policies to align with our environmental goals.
Monthly printing credit allocation
Each student is allocated $100 worth of printing credits monthly. This generous amount caters to most students' needs without hindering academic requirements.
We encourage mindful printing to help minimise paper waste.
How much can you print?
- Your credit resets to $100 each month, with no rollover.
- Printing costs are deducted from your credit balance. These credits are free of charge.
- A $100 credit typically allows for approximately 1000 black and white A4 copies or over 300 colour copies.
- If you approach your limit, you'll receive an email alert.
- Exceeding the limit means no further printing at Deakin for that month.
Print Type | A4 cost | A3 cost |
---|---|---|
Greyscale (black and white) | $0.10 | $0.25 |
Greyscale, double-sided | $0.20 | $0.50 |
Colour | $0.30 | $0.50 |
Colour, double-sided | $0.60 | $1.00 |
Monitoring your print balance
You can check your balance, print jobs and total pages printed via the PaperCut app with your Deakin credentials on the Deakin network.
Special circumstances
If you have an access plan and require additional printing allowance, you should liaise with the Disability Resource Centre and gain approval for additional use, before contacting the IT Help Desk.
Reasonable use of printers
Print only study-relevant materials. Misuse or personal non-university use may lead to loss of privileges or further action under the Information and Communications Technology Acceptable Use Policy.
Tips for Reducing Printing
- Utilise digital documents for viewing and sharing.
- Scan documents using Deakin printers instead of photocopying.
- Print only when necessary, preferably in black and white.
