SLE200 Communicating Science Ideas

In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the learning outcomes:

  • The opportunity to reflect on their own work, and receive and give feedback about others’ work.
  • Learning how to communicate using a variety of media.

The following aspects of the unit have been introduced, enhanced or retained in response to feedback from students who have undertaken this unit in previous trimesters:

  • We have streamlined the assessment submission process.
  • We have linked online content more directly to curriculum tree mapping.

SLE218 Indigenous Engagement: Natural Resources Management

In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the learning outcomes:

  • Being exposed to different ways of 'seeing' the natural world from different cultural perspectives.
  • Active seminar discussions allowing the sharing of experiences of staff and students.
  • Completing the required readings/videos prior to seminars helps to encourage active seminar discussions.

The following aspects of the unit have been introduced, enhanced or retained in response to feedback from students who have undertaken this unit in previous trimesters:

  • We have endeavoured to reintroduce field trips to sites outside of Deakin for students, after being unable to do so in 2022 due to COVID restrictions.
  • We will continue to invite speakers in this space to talk to the class as well video interviews to provide the students with opportunities to hear from a range of people working in Indigenous engagement.

SRD363 Architecture Design Studio 05: Hybridscapes

In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the learning outcomes:

  • Addressing architectural challenges in urban contexts and building types that students haven't had exposure to previously in the course.
  • Formative feedback opportunities from tutors in all studio sessions is invaluable.

The following aspects of the unit have been introduced, enhanced or retained in response to feedback from students who have undertaken this unit in previous trimesters:

  • We have revised the grading and weightings of assessment tasks
  • We have spread the submission dates for assessment tasks across the trimester.

SRQ774 Construction Measurement and Estimating

In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the learning outcomes:

  • The structure of classes and seminars.
  • The examples and exercises provided in the unit.
  • Use of computer-based software for measurement and estimating.

The following aspects of the unit have been introduced, enhanced or retained in response to feedback from students who have undertaken this unit in previous trimesters:

  • We have provided additional measurement exercises.
  • We have provided extra foundation information.
  • We have improved the final assessment and replaced the final test with a group project.

SRL733 Indigenous Narratives and Design Process

In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the learning outcomes:

  • Hearing directly from local Indigenous Australians.
  • The unit provided an environment that is safe and respectful in which to learn and improve one’s own understanding about complex topics.
  • The unit utilised a variety of media to communicate the nuances of Indigenous culture in Australia and develop a positive consultative processes.
  • The fortnightly intensives provided important face-to-face content delivery.

The following aspects of the Unit have been introduced, enhanced or retained in response to feedback from students who have undertaken this unit in previous trimesters:

  • We enhanced the unit to offer weekly content and activities that provide important resources to directly assist with assignment tasks.
  • We have retained the fortnightly intensives to continue to offer a variety of voices and experiences from within Australian First Nations contexts.
