Support services

Your Orientation Itinerary will guide you through your orientation at Deakin, but there are some essential places that will help you during your first days as a student.

Student Central

Student Central is your starting point for any question about your Deakin studies, from enrolment assistance, to financial help or support with your studies. It's your first stop for any query you might have. And if a student adviser can’t help, they’ll point you in the right direction.

Deakin Library

Deakin Library is the heart of our University and will play a big part in your success at Deakin. The Deakin Library offers an extensive digital collection to support you and your studies, including over 1,600,000 online resources! As a Deakin student, you have access to all our online library materials, which are mobile friendly and device neutral.

The GIFT City campus also has a small physical collection on-site with Student Central staff on-hand to help you locate what you need.

No matter what or where you study, the library will be a key part of your success at Deakin. The Library website also has a handy chat feature in the bottom right-hand corner – it's the quickest way to get a real-time answer to a question about the library and its services.

Disability support

If you have a disability, learning barrier, or a health or mental health condition that affects your study or participation in university life, you can access resources and support from our Disability Resource Centre (DRC). The DRC promotes inclusion and access and there are also resources available to you if you care for a person with a disability.

Study support

Deakin provides all the support you’ll need to do your best in your studies and have a rewarding time at Deakin. Use our academic skills guides to improve your study outcomes including academic writing guides, maths support and more. There is also a range of study assistance including language and learning advisers, and a range of mentors are available to support you to improve your academic skills.

Health and wellbeing support

Your academic success depends on you feeling happy and well. At Deakin we offer a range of health and wellbeing services to support you to achieve your best results. You can receive confidential support from our counselling and chaplaincy teams.

Careers and employment

From part-time work while you study, graduation, further study and onto a rewarding career, we have the support and resources to ensure you achieve your study outcomes. Take advantage of the opportunities provided through our Careers Service to build employability skills and experience, so when you are applying for your graduate role, your name is at the top of the candidate list for consideration!
