UniStart
UniStart is a self-access CloudDeakin resource for new and returning students. Visit UniStart to learn about Deakin's online tools, assignments and referencing. It's also a place where you can connect with students and a whole range of Deakin support services.
- All students are automatically enrolled - find UniStart in your list of CloudDeakin sites.

UniStart workshops
UniStart workshops introduce new students to university study. These workshops are delivered by Language and Learning Advisers, Liaison Librarians and Writing Mentors.
- Workshops run from O Week to week 4 and are suitable for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Week 5 to 9 Writing Mentors are available for drop in via the BB collaborate link in UniStart.

Preparing for the workshop
We use BB collaborate software for our cloud (online) session. After registering for a workshop follow these steps to access the UniStart workshops. N.B please allow plenty of time before the session start time to set up your computer. We recommend you do this the day before the session if possible.
To participate in this session you will need:
- A computer, an internet connection, and a USB headset
- To have read the setup instructions for 'First time users' (see info half-way down the page)
- The first time you log in, you will be prompted to install the Bb Collaborate Launcher for Windows / Mac. This can take up to 15 minutes.
- Accept any pop-up warnings/prompts that appear. Future sessions take a minute or two to load. If you have problems please contact the eSolutions Help Desk Internal phone ext. 888, or external ph. 1800 463 888

iDeaL
iDeaL is an online tool which you can use to find out which language and communication skills services at Deakin are most relevant to your needs. It is recommended that all new students complete iDeaL in their first week of study.
