Overview
Sanjiv Kumar graduated in 2015 with a Masters of Information Technology Professional and currently drives innovation as a Software Application Engineer at a Fortune 500 company. In this role, Sanjiv received the national award for digitising the company by identifying, refining and developing software to streamline business processes.

Tell us about your current role – what does a typical day look like for you?
Every day is different, some days you might be reviewing code, some days you might be programming, some days you might be stuck in meetings all day long. It is really different all the time which keeps it exciting.
What is the best/most rewarding part of your job?
Being able to singlehandedly create widely used products. Creation is rewarding.
What were some of the memorable experiences you had at Deakin? i.e. social, academic, intellectual.
Deakin, being a worldly institute, gives you the opportunity to meet people of different backgrounds and learn from them.
Did you learn anything from your Deakin studies to take directly to the workforce?
Yes, my whole work at the moment is based off what I learnt at Deakin.
Can you give a specific example of a project or collaboration that you have been involved in with Deakin and how this has impacted your career to date? (If applicable)
Student clubs and volunteering opportunity helped me learn valuable life skills, help reduce stress, find friends, reach out to the community, learn new skills, expand network, and boost social skills.
What are your career highlights?
Two internationally recognised publications, Working for a fortune 400 company, and a national award from the company within six months of starting work.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about Deakin that we haven’t covered?
I enrolled into Deakin because of a scholarship. I was able to graduate because of the Deakin student support scholarship when my situation changed and I was facing hardship.
