Cosmos in your classroom

Astronomy education for teachers

Event details

The awe, beauty, grandeur and mystery of the night sky inspires and piques the curiosity of everyone across the blue marble that is spaceship Earth. The night sky has inspired artists and scientists to explore the Universe through various lenses. Ultimately, astronomy as a field of inquiry aims to build a collective understanding of both the fundamental physical mechanisms operating in the Universe and our place as a species in the vast Cosmos.

This symposium and professional development brings together teachers who are interested in incorporating astronomy into their teaching. The aim is to learn from other teachers, but also provide teachers with the resources and support allowing them to incorporate the awe and wonder of astronomy into their teaching. Learn from researchers, astronomers and other teachers about their experiences and perspectives, and the potential of astronomy to be a gateway context to making connections between STEM and non-STEM disciplines.

If you teach Years 7-10, Year 11 (Physics) or 12 (Physics) or are a teacher from a non-STEM teaching area who is interested in incorporating astronomy then this is an opportunity to learn from experts and colleagues in the field. A Certificate of Attendance can be issued to current teachers upon request.
