Ethical engagement with Indigenous data
Ethical engagement with data assists with access and control of data. The FAIR, CARE and TRUST principles are designed to ensure that data is managed and used in ways that are ethical and beneficial, by balancing openness and accessibility with respect for Indigenous rights and interests.

CARE | Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, Ethics Recognising the rights of Indigenous people to control data. Those working with Indigenous data have a responsibility to ensure that the work they are doing is benefiting the Indigenous community. |
TRUST | Transparency, Responsible, Use focus, Sustainability, Technology Reliable data practices for a data driven future where data is readily accessible, with accurate metadata that allows users to know where the data originates, with robust security to safeguard data. |
