Study abroad programs are available if your institution does not have an exchange agreement with Deakin or an exchange place is not available. And if you are looking for a taster of the Australian University experience on completing an overseas Year 12, this is the perfect program for you. Study abroad students can study for a trimester or full academic year at Deakin and are normally required to pay upfront tuition fees to Deakin.

Study at Deakin as a Study abroad student in Australia. You can enrol into either 3 or 4 credit points with us.

You can come to Deakin on a study abroad program from one trimester to a full year, as long as you have approval from your home university. You can begin your studies in either Trimester 1 (March–June), Trimester 2 (July–October) or Trimester 3 (November–February).

You will need overseas health cover as part of your visa requirement if you are planning to study onshore.

If you are advised to apply directly to Deakin as a study abroad student, there are set fees you will be required to pay.
2024 Fees: A$8,250 per trimester
2025 Fees: A$8,415 per trimester
Please select 5–6 units when you apply*
2024 Fees: A$11,000 per trimester
2025 Fees: A$11,220 per trimester
Please select 6–8 units when you apply*
*Select a few extra units when you apply as this will ensure you have these other unit options (of your preference) to enrol into just in case you don’t get into your first preferences.

Deakin has a great range of pre-approved unit options available. These have no prerequisites, which means you are granted direct entry upon application. Any other units that you select that are not on this list will be sent to their respective faculty along with your academic transcript for approval.
