Deakin Sport Performance Hub

The Deakin Sport Performance Hub (DSPH) is an applied research facility available to all members of the community. The DSPH provides accessible training facilities for the sporting communities we serve, focusing on enhancing sport performance, while also providing work integrated learning experiences for our current students.

Why choose the DSPH?

Combining the expertise of the number one sport science school in the world with gold standard equipment and resources, the DSPH team works closely with clients (athletes, sporting teams and school groups) to determine their needs and develop programs best tailored to their individual goals. We offer exceptional training facilities coupled with evidence-based packages, including sport-specific and pre-season programs.

Our services

Strength & conditioning

Our strength and conditioning laboratories have commercial-grade gym equipment, speed and power testing equipment and state-of-the-art exercise prescription software to aid in athlete preparation and monitoring.

Exercise physiology

Our exercise physiology laboratories house state-of-the-art testing equipment, including metabolic gas analysers to assess maximal oxygen uptake, blood sampling devices to detect threshold parameters, and bikes that measure power output.

Biomechanics

Our world-class biomechanics laboratories allow you to capture and analyse the physics of movement, measure the impact of running using inbuilt force plates on our indoor 40-metre track, or make use of our mobile high-speed cameras to film and analyse movements.

Nutrition & dietetics

We are currently setting up our sports nutrition and dietetics clinic. If you are interested in booking an appointment at the clinic, please fill out the enquiry form and we will be in touch.

Services for athletes

The DSPH can offer single sessions and packages for individuals or teams looking to understand their individual physiological profile. This may include use of the gym for physical preparation, field-based performance testing and nutrition services, as well as advanced performance testing such as gait analysis and oxygen uptake measures. We can also provide additional nutritional and dietetic consultations, access to climate chamber training, and referral pathways to and from the Deakin Clinical Exercise Centre.
