Learn in-demand biomechanic skills
Located at our Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, the 3D Gait Lab is a practical learning facility equipping students, researchers, athletes and the public with specialist skills used to treat clients in the exercise and sports science industries. Our world-class laboratory uses state-of-the-art 3D motion capture of human movement through biomechanical assessments.
Improve performance and avoid injury
Work with real clients and utilise cutting-edge technology to identify atypical movements, improve athletic form and help reduce the risk of injury.
Access extensive data
Our partnership with the developers of 3D Gait means you’ll have access to the world's largest database of 3D biomechanical walking and running data.
See Deakin's 3D Gait Lab in action
Our team of physiotherapists, biomechanists, PhD students and research technicians provide three-dimensional walking and running biomechanical assessments for active people.
#1 sport science school in the world
When you study sport at Deakin you’ll get real-world experience in elite facilities, giving you the confidence and networks to launch a dynamic career in exercise, sport science and allied fields
3D Gait Lab research
Our researchers have access to advanced motion analysis and the largest database of 3D biomechanical walking and running data, enabling them to come up with high-tech solutions for real clients. 3D Gait Lab research focuses on enhancing human performance, in particular:
