Deakin Production and Creative Arts Industry Hub

Connecting business with student interns

Deakin’s creative hub connects industry with production and creative arts student interns who are work ready. Bring your project to our facilities or host an intern at your business.

How does the creative hub work?

Deakin’s creative hub offers your business the opportunity to bring your projects to our Melbourne Burwood Campus. Find out why we’re the #1 Victorian university for facilities and resources when you access our specialist equipment and facilities. Plus, you’ll get the chance to collaborate with our students and technical support team.

If you prefer to work from your own premises, we also provide access to a talented pool of student interns you can host. Internships provide valuable experience for students by allowing them to engage in industry projects.

Projects tailored to meet your business needs

Each project can be customised to align with your specific business objectives – whether you need innovative design solutions or hands-on assistance with production, Deakin students are ready to collaborate and contribute to your business success.

For example, our students have built immersive 3D environments, worked on outside broadcasting for sports, developed advertising campaigns and more.

Work with Deakin student interns

Deakin students are multidisciplinary creative practitioners, excited to have the opportunity to work with your business. They are taught by industry professionals who are dedicated to building the next generation of Melbourne creatives. Our students can intern as a group or as individuals.

Student areas of expertise

Deakin’s students bring expertise across the following areas:

  • advertising
  • animation
  • dance
  • design
  • film
  • television
  • performance
  • technical theatre production
  • photography
  • visual arts.

Student intern support

Students contribute a minimum of 120 hours to your organisation, with flexible start and end dates to fit your needs. Deakin offers structured support to internship providers, ensuring that both parties receive the necessary assistance for success.

Covered by our insurance, students complete an induction program to prepare them for a professional environment, focusing on etiquette and workplace culture. They also receive guidance from our academics during their internships, helping them develop real-world skills alongside their classroom learning.
