Closing the gap together

One of our top priorities is closing the gap in life expectancy and disadvantage between Aboriginal and Torres Strait populations and the rest of Australia. Through an internal partnership with Deakin's NIKERI Institute, our Indigenous Entry Stream provides a specialised pathway for Indigenous students to become healthcare practitioners.

School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences partnerships

Our school has strong partnerships with leading organisations in sport and nutrition sciences. Our partnerships ensure our teaching is relevant to industry trends, provide students access to work-integrated learning, and benefit our research through collaborative projects.

We work with many partners, providing research evidence to inform their policies and programs, as well as providing expert advice and guidance. Our major partners include the Melbourne Boomers, Geelong Cats, Melbourne Vixens and the Cancer Council.

Deakin is the official education partner of the Geelong Cats. We're also the proud naming rights sponsor of one of the Women’s National Basketball League's most powerful clubs, the Melbourne Boomers.

School of Health and Social Development partnerships

The School of Health and Social Development has links with universities around the world for academic collaborations and student exchange. We also have a wide range of industry partners who offer students applied research opportunities and work placements. Dynamic dialogues between teaching and research, and strong engagement between the school, industry and local communities are critical to improving population health and social wellbeing.

Our strong network of partners gives students access to a wide variety of clinical learning experiences, contributes to our courses and helps facilitate world-class research.

Clinical placement partners

We partner with healthcare organisations in metropolitan, regional and rural settings, so students can nominate their preferred placement or complete all placements within one health service as part of our Fellowship program.

Clinical Partnership Network 

Our Clinical Partnership Network is the first fully coordinated partnership collaboration of its kind in Australia. Through this network, we conduct multidisciplinary, multi-site research, which feeds directly into our course content, education for the health services and clinical practice.
