Content
This unit engages students studying The Bachelor of Engineering (Industry) (Honours) to develop knowledge about and skills for engineering practice. Through this unit and the subsequent unit (SEL799 Engineering Industry Experience B), students will complete a minimum of 160 days of placement and demonstrate professional engineering practice and continuing professional development (CPD). Your industry experience placement in a recognised organisation and role must be approved by the Unit Chair before enrolment in this unit and must be for a minimum of 80 working days (600 hours). The job role for your industry experience placement must allow you to apply and demonstrate knowledge and skills developed throughout your course.
In this unit you will conduct a self-evaluation, set personal and professional goals, and engage in professional practice and professional development within a workplace environment. You will then use critical self-reflection to explore personal learning throughout this unit, and the impact this experience has had on your approach to engineering practice. As a result of your engagement in this unit you will be able to identify the importance of lifelong learning, judge how various opportunities can impact your future career and employability and plan appropriate personal and professional development.
Hurdle requirement
To be eligible to obtain a pass in this unit, students must complete all the pass tasks within stipulated timeframes at the required minimum standard.
