Content

This unit engages students studying an engineering course at all stages of their career in work integrated learning through professional engineering practice experience and continuous professional development (CPD). Your professional experience/placement within a recognised organisation and role must be approved by the Unit Chair before enrolment in the unit and must be for a minimum of 30 working days (225 hours).

The job role for your professional experience/placement must allow you to apply and demonstrate knowledge and skills developed throughout your course.

In this unit you will conduct a self-evaluation, set personal and professional goals, and engage in professional practice and professional development within a workplace environment. You will then apply the skill of critical self-reflection to explore personal learning throughout this unit, and the impact this experience has had on your approach to professional practice.

As a result of your engagement in this unit you will be able to identify the importance of lifelong learning, judge how various opportunities can impact your future career and employability and therefore engage in appropriate personal and professional development.

Hurdle requirement

To be eligible to obtain a pass in this unit, students must complete all the pass tasks within stipulated timeframes at the required minimum standard, as specified in the unit grading rubric.
