Content
This unit provides students with the opportunity to further develop skills and knowledge applicable to the process of strategic workforce planning for sport organisations. Key elements of human resource management and planning will be considered, as well as key aspects of understanding volunteering as a leisure choice. The ability to plan for a variable workforce for events and understanding issues of contracting out work that is core business will be explored. Students will examine strategic workforce planning frameworks and students will critically analyse their applicability to the sport industry demonstrating the nuances and complexities of the sport workforce. It will include case study investigation of national and international sport organisations with a focus on strategic workforce planning, leadership and culture in relation to planning for work in sport organisations.
