Content

This unit provides students with an introduction to the theoretical underpinnings of the field of sport development as well as insights into sport development in practice. Students will be introduced to the key concepts of development of sport and development through sport, before examining authentic examples of sport development in action. These examples willexplore the various ways in which sport development professionals work to build the capacity of community sportorganisations to design and implement sport programs and experiences. Additionally, the unit will use examples to illustratehow sport development professionals strategically use sport as a vehicle to achieve community development outcomes, suchas health and education.
