Content
The major theme of this unit is the statutory and common law liability for false and misleading statements. We will examine the principles, theories and policies underlying the laws that regulate liability for false and misleading statements, including the laws of defamation, deceit, injurious falsehood, negligent misstatement and the provisions in the Australian Consumer Law prohibiting false representations and misleading conduct. The principles, theories and policies underlying common law and statutory liability of manufacturers for defective products will also be examined.
