Study commitment

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Content

This unit provides students with an opportunity to contribute to participation and wellbeing of people with communication and/or swallowing disability in the local community, by developing a project that addresses an identified need.

Students will be introduced to the use of Theory of Change as a tool for project planning and evaluation, and will use this for their project. Students will work in groups with people representing local community services, which may include speech pathology services, other professional services, public services such as libraries, educational facilities or any other service.

Students will undertake a needs analysis with stakeholders and will work collaboratively to design an intervention that addresses this need. Student groups will present their work to stakeholders and local community members.
