| Study commitment | Students will on average spend 150 hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site. |

| In-person attendance requirements | Students are required to attend all on-campus seminars and all placement days. Students will participate in a supervised professional placement of 18 days, situated within a speech pathology service. Students will be allocated to their placement by the University. Students must communicate directly with Practice Educators regarding attendance on placement as outlined in the Speech Pathology Placement Handbook. |

Students who fail to meet these requirements by the required date will not be able to attend placement and this will impede progress in the course. |
Content
Students will undertake the first of four supervised placements in a professional setting. They will have the opportunity to apply learning and to develop their Professional conduct, Reflective practice and Speech pathology practice as outlined in the Professional Standards for Speech Pathologists in Australia. Students are expected to engage with speech pathology practice through observation, questioning, and implementing foundational skills in working with clients, families and communities. Students will demonstrate communication and interaction skills to evaluate client needs and provide speech pathology services with high levels of scaffolding and support from a Practice Educator. Emphasis is placed on learning within the placement, from speech pathologists and other professionals, and from peers, clients and families.
