Scheduled learning activities - online

Students will be invited to attend 2 x 1 hour online collaborative seminars across the trimester (~weeks 3 and 6), with each focused on AT1 and AT2, respectively.

Note:

Your work in this unit will be based on a specific topic that is unique to you and the staff that will supervise you. The unit chair will communicate with you before the unit starts, about the process of allocating a topic and supervisors. If you are intending to complete the research project elective unit (HSE739 Research Project in Sport Science), you are encouraged to choose a topic that aligns with a research project. Topics that permit this alignment will be clearly indicated to you in the topic allocation process. Whilst every effort is made to provide enough topics that are aligned to a project, sometimes this is not possible.

It is also possible to complete this unit and not complete the research project elective unit. In this case the assessment in this unit includes an option of an applied report that is designed to meet part of the requirements for Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Level 2 accreditation.

Content

In Sport Science Literature Review, students will develop and apply their research skills to a specific research area within Applied Sport Science. Students will learn specific research skills essential for conducting a systematic review or for the provision of practical recommendations relating to the application of specific training methods and the interpretation of associated performance outcomes. They will work with a supervisory team to produce either (1) a critical literature review OR (2) an applied report focusing on recommendations related to the practical application of a specific training method.
