Content

This unit covers trauma associated with forced displacement and its implications for educational engagement and learning of traumatised refugee students. The unit explores what refugee trauma is, other types of trauma refugee and immigrant children might experience and how teachers might adapt to better respond to their unique needs, including consideration for how refugee trauma affects the academic engagement and learning outcomes of refugee or other immigrant students. The unit also explores what humanitarian education entails and how it supports the learning outcomes of refugee students.
