Study commitment

Students will on average spend 150-hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Scheduled learning activities - online

Participation is highly recommended in at least 2 of the scheduled 1-hour Blackboard Collaborate sessions over the trimester.

8-10 hours of online/located group/individual research activities over the trimester.

 

Content

This unit focuses on evidence-informed evaluation of professional practice. It aims to enhance professional teaching practice through critical reflection on and engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education programs that respond to the contemporary challenges impacting providers in Australia and internationally. It utilises a practice-oriented approach to explore professional values, core knowledge and areas of activity that inform professional learning and scholarship to support the development of effective and inclusive teaching and learning in higher education.  The unit applies theories of professional practice, curriculum design and higher education pedagogy to develop a deeper understanding of the wider context of higher education and the requirements of quality assurance, diverse learners and groups, critical evaluation of teaching and learning practice, enhancement of practice through collaboration and scholarship, and the development of an evidence-informed reflective approach to improving practice and ongoing professional learning.
