Content

This unit examines curriculum, learning environments, pedagogy and assessment approaches used in senior secondary school pathways which prepare people for life and work beyond school. Students will identify environmental and contextual factors that impact on vocational learning in order to plan for, develop and reflect on applied learning vocational programs. Students will critically reflect on their personal skills and past experiences to inform the development of quality vocational programs. The unit develops advanced knowledge and skills of programs such as the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and the VCE Vocational Major (VM) stream, or equivalent senior secondary school pathways. Students will apply strategies for designing, teaching and assessing programs, and providing feedback, that meet quality assurance requirements and are responsive to the learning needs of specific student cohorts. The unit will also explore vocational pathways and support systems available to facilitate transition into further education training and employment.

Hurdle requirement

Professional experience is a requirement of the Victorian Institution of Teaching for the preparation of teachers. In this unit you will complete 15 days of the required 75 days for the Master of Applied Learning and Teaching (Secondary). Satisfactory completion of the professional experience is required in order to pass this unit.
