Content
This unit studies contemporary short stories from Australia and around the world to examine how 'revision'-of stories, characters, voices, genres, and forms-underlies creative 'vision'. With an emphasis on formal innovation and the digital publishing environment, revisionism is explored as a central methodology of creative practice. Texts studied include Tom Cho's Look Who's Morphing, Ceridwen Dovey's Only the Animals, The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis, Ryan O'Neill's The Weight of a Human Heart, Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad, and electronic collection of short stories. Students will write diverse assessment pieces designed for an online portfolio.
