Extraordinary impact acknowledged at Financial Planning Scholarship Breakfast
Alumni newsDonors to Deakin University play an important role in providing funding for a great many scholarships offered to Deakin University students.
In 2017, 109 students who may not otherwise have had the opportunity of a tertiary education, were supported through donor funded scholarships.
Scholarships in financial planning increased in 2017 with organisations looking to support gender and cultural diversity of students, helping to create a far more diversified cohort of qualified employees coming into the industry. Deakin Advancement were honoured to acknowledge this commitment by hosting an inaugural Financial Planning Scholarship Breakfast at Deakin Downtown.
Supported by the Deakin Business School, the breakfast provided donor-funded financial planning scholarship recipients the occasion to meet with those donors who had made this opportunity possible. Recognition events such as this provide Deakin University students and staff the opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ to our donors and share with them the value, impact and enormous difference a scholarship can have on the learning journey of a student. The event also provided the opportunity for donors to share their professional story and provide students with firsthand knowledge and experience of the industry. We thank those donors who attended this event including Platinum Asset Management, Scholten Collins McKissock, Care Super, Edge Financial Partners and First Financial.
Education is a powerful instrument of human progress, together we can all play a part.
