Graduate recruitment industry votes Deakin most popular uni career service
Media releaseDeakinTALENT has been awarded the most popular university career service in Australia by the graduate recruitment industry.
The accolade was announced at the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) Graduate Recruitment Industry Awards last night in Sydney, recognising Deakin's employer engagement program and comes just over two years since Deakin became the first Australian university to appoint a Pro Vice-Chancellor for Graduate Employment, Professor Dineli Mather.
Following Professor Mather's appointment, the University created DeakinTALENT, which connects student directly with employers and employment opportunities from the commencement of their course.
The sector-leading graduate employment initiatives implemented by the DeakinTALENT team gives Deakin graduates an advantage when entering the employment market.
Professor Mather said the award was an endorsement from the employer community of the strategy and initiatives that have been implemented by Deakin.
"This is due recognition of the passion, commitment and professionalism of the DeakinTALENT team and, in particular, the graduate recruitment services team led by Gavin Walker," Professor Mather said.
"We set out to delight our employers by giving them a seamless and engaging experience and making it as easy as possible for them to develop their brand, connect with our students directly and recruit Deakin graduates."
DeakinTALENT Connect, the university's own social business platform, enables employers to connect with Deakin students anytime anywhere. Employers also have the opportunity to come onto campus for careers events.
"In a business where employers determine the success of our strategy, this the best kind of endorsement we can have," Professor Mather said.
