Biography
Dr Lyn Roberts AO has extensive experience in public health policy, health research and education and corporate governance.
Lyn was Chief Executive Officer of the National Heart Foundation from 2001 to 2013. She was elected to the Board of the World Heart Federation in 2006 and served on the Board until 2012, including as Vice-President from 2009 to 2010. In 2019 Lyn was appointed as a member of the Expert Steering Committee for the National Preventative Health Strategy 2020–2030. She is also a member of the Victorian Justice Health Ministerial Advisory Committee, and was previously a Board member of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). She has been a member of a number of expert advisory committees including the National Preventative Health Taskforce where she chaired the Overweight and Obesity Expert Working Group. Between 2012 to 2015, Lyn was an Adjunct Professor in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Health at Deakin.
In 1997 Lyn was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) for service to the community and to health. In 2015 she was awarded an AO for distinguished service to community health through executive and government advisory roles in a range of public outreach and education initiatives aimed at improving cardiovascular wellbeing.
In addition to governance positions Lyn now provides consulting services to support the NGO sector, health and government agencies.
Lyn is Deputy Chancellor, and a member of the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, Honorary Degrees Committee, Finance and Business Affairs Committee, People and Culture Committee and Deakin’s Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) Board.
