Undergraduate
Undergraduate (your first degree)
An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.
Research
Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)
Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Crime Scene House is our purpose-built training facility developed to give you the most immersive learning experience possible. The facility can be staged with diverse types of crime scene simulations so you can gain the hands-on experience you need to solve real-life crimes after graduation.

Build experience in a range of real situations – from crime scene examinations and evidence collection to laboratory analysis and presenting your findings in a moot court. You'll be well equipped to kick-start your career with practical skills whether you plan to work domestically or abroad.
Professional recognition
Our Bachelor of Forensic Science course and honours program in forensic science are accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences making Deakin the first and only university in Australia to offer professionally accredited forensic science courses.
The Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) has professionally accredited the forensic chemistry major in Deakin's Bachelor of Forensic Science and Bachelor of Forensic Science/Bachelor of Criminology combined course. When you complete the forensic chemistry major as part of either course, you can apply for membership of the respective local branch of RACI.
As a graduate, you can also become a member of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS)
