| RECENT RESEARCH: |
My research focuses on the relationship between work, family and community life. I have authored, or collaborated on, published studies on workplace norms and trust, organisational flexibility, public confidence in Australian companies, the measurement of workplace morale, the relationship between organisations and their environments, a typology of Australian workplaces, and volunteering among professionals and managers. Current projects are investigating working time and community involvement, and the measurement of social capital in urban, suburban and rural communities. I increasingly work as part of a research team that includes collaborators from the UK, Europe and Canada, as well as Deakin researchers.
A second area in which I work is the development of technology-based national research infrastructure for social science research. Currently, I am developing a national computer-assisted survey research facility - the Australian Survey Research Infrastructure Network (ASRIN) - building on the successful completion of a major ARC funded project to prototype this in 2003. I am currently leading a national group to develop the Australia-wide network. |
