Director, MBA
The Deakin MBA provides a wide range of flexible choices, in the way you study and your choice of units. After more than 20 years of delivering a successful MBA, we know how to provide you with high quality support to make off-campus learning the rewarding and successful experience it should be. You can choose any combination of on-campus study in Melbourne or off-campus study from any place in Australia -- or the world -- that has internet access. The majority of our MBA students are mid-career managers who appreciate the flexibility our program offers. The ability to study from any location will be important to you, especially if you travel frequently or change work location.
A distinctive feature of the Deakin MBA program is the option of selecting residential units. These intensive one-week sessions are held at the Deakin Management Centre in Geelong. This experience, enhanced with group activities and industry experts, includes action learning and professional networking. By including one or more residential units as a complement to on or off campus study, you can enrich and diversify your study program.
You might want to take up one of the opportunities for international study on tours to Europe and Asia. You will study the unit materials interspersed with visits to companies and other business organisations in the host countries, developing a powerful appreciation of all aspects of business in a global environment.
Course structure and options
You can complete the MBA over 3 semesters of full-time study or accelerate
your program to finish in 12 months by including residential units and a
summer semester. You might prefer to study part-time, taking one or two units
each semester.
The MBA course consists of eight core units plus four electives. You may choose any of the listed electives as a program of study suited to your unique needs or opt for one of the twenty specialisations we offer.
Learning support
The internet based conferencing system allows you to work collaboratively with
study partners and instructors using a rich array of online resources. You
will develop your ability to communicate online, at your convenience and
without having to travel to meet.
Even if you study off-campus, there are regular opportunities to meet with staff and fellow studies, but none of these are required. You can decide how often you want to attend such sessions.
