Deakin University is a member of the Australian National Business School (ANBS) consortium. ANBS has among its membership six of Australia’s leading Business School’s: Canberra, Deakin, Griffith, Tasmania, Wollongong and Western Australia. These Schools have combined their resources and expertise to provide their students and corporate clients with an MBA that follows a national framework, and which meets the highest international standards.
The ANBS consortium supports an MBA consisting of up to eight core units with the balance of the units being electives. While unit titles may vary between member universities, the content and overall assessment criteria are consistent and units completed at one member university are fully recognised at other member universities.
Students benefit from the mobility offered by the ANBS consortium. The consortium MBA is offered in a variety of on-campus modes and by distance education. Students at member universities have the possibility to transfer or undertake part of their program at an alternative member university. This is an important advantage for students whose career might take them interstate on a permanent or temporary basis, or whose work commitments might require them to change their mode of study from on-campus to distance or visa-versa.
The MBA offered by ANBS members is also supported by learning materials prepared jointly by experts from each university in the ANBS consortium. A compendium of materials has been prepared for each core MBA unit by a unit team consisting of subject specialists from each member university. These materials have been placed on the ANBS MBA Support Materials CD which is given to all MBA and masters students and staff at member universities. Students and staff can draw upon these additional resources to add to their learning experience.
For students not wishing to undertake the complete MBA program, ANBS offers in collaboration with member universities two intermediate graduate qualifications: a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.
In addition, the ANBS connection offers students at member universities only the opportunity to accelerate their program of study and develop an important specialisation in the cultural and business aspects of doing Business in Asia via the Asian Intensive School for Advanced Management (AISAM) program. AISAM is an advanced intensive international management program for MBA and other Masters level business students, and for experienced managers from industry and government. Successful completion of the AISAM program, which is now in its eleventh year and is usually conducted in Penang, Malaysia each July, gains credit for up to two units at member universities.
ANBS and its members reflect a commitment to national educational leadership and to the provision of high quality, innovative management education – delivered nationally and internationally.
